Blooming Lovely

Bloom 2013 is underway and the sun is shining so we here at Edition are feeling well and truly summery. We've launched our new summer collection featuring floral themes, birds, bees and generally seasonal motifs! Have a look at Aliquo's Spring / Summer collection - I love love love the Hummingbird Ring (yes I did need to say it three times!) and the floral Ayame Earrings. We also have some lovely jewellery from A Box For My Treasure - I particularly like the Silver Leaf and Gold Bird Earrings and the Silver Paisley Leaf Earrings. And a new must have bag from Ulster Weavers with a floral songbird motif. And lots more of beautiful stuff so have a browse when you have time. Enjoy the sun!

Hello birdy!

A friend's dad bought the blue bird house with the slate roof from Edition and sent some pics of it's new resident! I'm no expert so I'm not going to hazard a guess as to what type of bird it might be but looks like a fairly typical chap for a Dublin garden. I'm glad he's making himself comfortable anyway!

Featured designer: Alljoy Design

The laser cut designs by Alljoy Design are innovative and beautiful but above all have a great sense of fun! A Dublin based graphic design studio run by talented pair Ling and Jiawen Xu, Alljoy has developed a wide range of wall art, cards, stationery, felt tableware and more – all created through laser cutting technique married with an elegant sense of style.

Their intricate Dublin map was inspired by life in the city and features an astonishing level of detail incorporating the architecture and character of Dublin. Their felt placemats and coasters are available in a mind boggling array of designs and colours. Practicality and design come together here as felt is an ideal material for tableware being both heat resistant and absorbent.

Their range is stylish, colourful and affordable so definitely worth checking out if you have the chance.

Parisian chic (via Dublin!)

I’d like to welcome Aliquo, otherwise known as jewellery designer Alice Moyon, to Edition.

Alice’s work creates vintage charm combined with clean, contemporary lines. Her latest work includes the Secret Garden and Rosa collections, which both incorporate handmade Japanese decal beads, antiqued brass (no nickel) along with Czech glass beads and Swarovski crystals.

The floral beads are handmade in Japan and each one is unique. They’re made from resin with a paper decal applied to each bead and then varnished for protection. Their great advantage is that they’re much lighter than ceramic beads, making them very comfortable to wear and ideal for earrings!

Alice was born in Paris and launched Aliquo here in Dublin in 2007. All of her pieces are handmade in her studio in Dublin.  Her work is defined by delicate, elegant designs with whimsical elements adding a playful touch.

Cute as a button

Bright, funky jewellery made from buttons – who would have thought it would work? Jane Walsh of Button Studio, that’s who! After finishing her studies at NCAD, Jane took over a gallery/gift shop in the midlands. The recession meant tough times so she started making her own jewellery to supplement her stock and found that it was a bestseller, outselling everything else. So Button Studio was born.

Jane’s jewellery is affordable, playful and unique. Each piece is different, incorporating different buttons, colours and styles. She uses resin, collected buttons and patchwork fabric to create her range of pendants, rings, brooches and cufflinks, her aim being to turn ordinary objects into colourful eye-catching pieces.
